March 22, 2011: Francorp, a part of the Franchise India group and Jaipuria Institute of Management (JIM), have initiated a structured and certified Franchise training course to be held at JIM Indore with the support of Indian Franchise Association (IFA). Commencing on May 2nd, 2011, it is a week long program offering exhaustive study to create an in depth knowledge on franchising. Leveraging on the practical examples, students learn essentials of franchising and run through multiple case studies.
Recent years have witnessed a sudden increase in franchising in India. More and more people and businesses are looking for locations where they can start their franchise outlets or businesses. Today, the Indian Franchising industry is estimated to be around $7.2 billion with about 1500 homegrown franchisors and is growing at a rate of 25-30% annually. However, one of the key issues that is holding back the growth potential of Franchising is the massive shortage of skilled manpower in the Franchise sector. It is expected that in the next two years the sector would be requiring more than two million skilled franchise professionals and executives to fulfill the human resource requirements of franchise companies across various industries. Franchising is a business unto itself. Today franchise companies are looking for professionals beyond their business development capacities, who are well learned in franchising discipline.

Franchise companies in India offer a wide choice across all industries - automotive, healthcare, IT, health and beauty care, retail, business services and many more. With a booming economy, the Indian franchising opportunities are growing. The increasing buying strength of the middle class is a major driving factor for the maturity in the Indian franchising opportunities. Not only International brands have started venturing into Indian markets, but Indian brands also have started gaining momentum through franchising. To name a few, Dr. Lal Path Labs to which franchising helped set up a network of 55 satellite laboratories, 850 collection centers and 2,500 pick-up points, Eurokids now having 500+ centers pan India, Safal, Wills Lifestyle and many more have started growing at a fast pace because of franchising their businesses.

Commenting, Dr. Gautam Raj Jain, Director JIM Indore and Chair, Entrepreneurship and innovation, said, “Keeping the current market scenario and the entrepreneurial criticality of franchising business in mind, this unique course is conceptualized with a mission to impart the highest standards of quality franchise training and education for the management students, professionals and entrepreneurs. “ The course will also discuss some globally successful cases in franchise and their best practices.
