Wine and Design to Support Therapeutic Alternatives with Fundraiser on February 10th

Jamestown painting studio to raise funds to support individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases

JAMESTOWN, NC – February 6, 2012 – Wine and Design will be partnering with Therapeutic Alternatives to host a fundraiser at the painting studio’s location at 121 East Main Street in Jamestown. The two-hour event will be held on Friday, February 10th at 7:00pm at a cost of $45 per person. Attendees will be able to paint a lovely ocean-view scene.

Therapeutic Alternatives, Inc. (www.mytahome.com) was established in 1958 and employs over 500 employees. Since its founding, the organization has earned the trust and respect of state health authorities, as well as the people and families it serves. In a day when agencies with extensive and diverse experience in health care are seriously needed, Therapeutic Alternatives continues to expand in terms of human resources, clinical knowledge, and creative programs to meet the needs of hundreds of North Carolinians. By partnering with Wine and Design, Therapeutic Alternatives hopes to raise funds and awareness for The Cap and Mabel Burrow Foundation, a non-profit organization affiliated with Therapeutic Alternatives.

The Cap and Mabel Burrow Foundation raises money throughout the year to help support people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases with much-needed items and services. Jennifer Barbee, Vice President of Marketing with Therapeutic Alternatives and Board Member for The Cap and Mabel Burrow Foundation, heard about Wine and Design from a co-worker who lives near the studio. Barbee says that events, like the upcoming fundraiser at Wine and Design, are crucial revenue generators for the Foundation.

“The Cap and Mabel Burrow Foundation do not receive United Way or other grant funding, so we are only able to assist people in need in our community through the generosity of individuals and businesses who donate,” explains Barbee. “Last year, our small Foundation assisted individuals and families in the Triad and Sandhills area with well over $30,000 in assistance toward necessities like food, clothing, utilities, medication, and housing. Since our inception, the Foundation has contributed well over $100,000 to helping people in need in our community.”

Barbee says that she is looking forward to the Wine and Design fundraiser and that the painting party experience is something new that people are excited to experience.

Wine and Design Triad is owned and operated by Jenny Ragsdale and opened its doors in Jamestown in May 2011. The painting party company provides the canvas, cover-up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew and attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing. First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pro’s browse the studio’s website to find a painting they would like to replicate. Sessions are led by local artists that guide participants through a carefully-orchestrated, step-by-step process that promises a finished “masterpiece” at the end of the two-hour session.

“It’s wonderful to be working with Jennifer and helping to bring attention to this wonderful cause,” says Ragsdale. “Coming to this fundraiser is such a wonderful way to not only do something positive for your community, but also something nice for yourself at the same time.”
