The Awards saw numerous regional industry figures gather, for the first time, hosted by trustees Jake Leith, President Elect of The Chartered Society of Designers, and Head of Business & Professional Practice for Fashion & Textiles (and Design & Craft) at the University of Brighton, and Mike Weatherley MP representing Hove & Portslade.
The Sussex Fashion Emerging Talent Award 2011 went to young designer, Julius Arthur Quinn, an ex graduate of Brighton University with fantastic print abilities, and renowned and influential ladies wear stockist, Katherine Tansell of Walk in Wardrobe, won The Best Place to Shop Award 2011.
The fabulous stunning collection, and highly praised exhibition, ‘Dress for Excess’ was awarded The Sussex Fashion Outstanding Achievement Award 2011, to the team headed up by Martin Pel at Brighton Museum, whilst Sarah Bird won Fashion Photographer of the Year Award 2011.
All Awards were decided by public nominations this year, and included the sustainability store, Gossypium, as the winner of the Sussex Fashion ECO Award and following on, Tess Georgia as Sussex Fashion Model of the Year 2011.
Brighton & Hove legendary stylist Igor Srzic Cartledge tied with dashing Gresham Blake, the tailor, for the title of Sussex Best Fashion Ambassador Male 2011, whilst a similar situation was entertained with Liz Bishop, of Brighton Fashion Week, and Jane Busby, stylist.
Edit Boutique of Haywards Heath Sussex was voted The Best place to Spend £250 and finally Vintage Owl Boutique won the Sussex e’tailer of the Year Award 2011.

The Sussex Fashion Trust, a charity, was set up during 2010. Its primary aim to heighten visibility, engage buyers with fashion designers, increase manufacturing and export of fashions from the local region.
The Trust offers soft mentoring support, one to one with top professional industry specialists, and online regional support information to showcase fashion.
The Sussex Fashion Awards initiative was designed as part of the programme to heighten visibility of the fashion industry in the South of England.
